Woof Awards: Celebrating dog-centric Island businesses

Despite a challenging personal year, Mary Jacobs, founder of the UK’s largest animal recognition awards, is thrilled to announce the launch of the Woof Awards Isle of Wight. Nominations are now open for the inaugural event, supported by Wightlink ferries.

The Woof Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the dedication and expertise of individuals and businesses that enrich the lives of dogs on the Isle of Wight. This includes dog walkers, groomers, pet-related businesses, dog boarders, and anyone with a passion for canine companions.

Mary said “Since 2016, I’ve had Isle of Wight business owners from dog groomers and dog boarders enter the Animal Star Awards and many have come over to Portsmouth to attend the award ceremony and I wanted to bring an awards to the Isle of Wight to give recognition to those who dedicate themselves to the lives of dogs”

The Woof Awards will be held at Shanklin Conservative Club on Saturday, March 8th, 2025. Shortlisted nominees will be announced by October 16th of this year.

Jacobs, whose Animal Star Awards garnered her a Point of Lights award from former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, emphasises the importance of recognising those who contribute to the well-being of dogs.

Wightlink plays a significant role in supporting the Woof Awards. Not only are they offering complimentary travel to mainland finalists for the Animal Star Awards, but they will also be part of the Woof Award judging panel.
